born in boston, daphne chapin lives and paints in new canaan, connecticut and maine.
she received her bfa from lake forest college in 1991 and spent a semester at parsons, paris and the american university of paris. she continued to study painting informally taking classes at the school of the museum of fine arts, boston, the massachusetts college of art and design and most recently at the silvermine arts center in new canaan.
she set up her painting studio in 2007 after moving to new canaan from new york where she had been a design director for baby gap. previously she had worked in los angeles as a clothing designer. daphne has also worked for the museum of fine arts, boston and for the metropolitan museum of art -- both in exhibition sponsorship. right after college she held various positions at the national gallery of art in washington, d.c. and at the national portrait gallery.
